Edimax offers True Deployment Flexibility with New GS-5424PLG Web Smart PoE+ Switch

Networking

Edimax Technology, a leading provider of premier networking solutions, today launched GS-5424PLG Web Smart PoE Switch. With its Power-over-Ethernet capabilities (PoE), GS-5424PLG supports Twenty-four Gigabit Ethernet ports and four mini-GBIC/SFP slots. Designed for medium to large network environments, its standard 19-inch 1U rack-mount brackets allow for integration with the most widely used mounting systems in the market.

According to the recent research by IDC, the size of the Indian Ethernet switch market increased 12.3% to $112.6 million in Q1 2016. Increased adoption of SMAC technologies drove demand for L3 switches across organizations in Q1 2016. Telecom, banking and education sectors witnessed significant growth about 20 percent and contributed close to 60 percent of the overall market. Increasing number of internet users across tier II & tier III cities, rising penetration of 3G/4G technology and decline in average selling price of IoT devices have led to higher growth of Ethernet switches in Indian market. Additionally, push from Govt of India by initiatives such as eGov & Digital India has increased demand for network infrastructure investments across IT and corporate sector.

“The GS-5424PLG is a superb choice for IT Managers or SIs looking for future-proof solutions to their PoE networks. It raises the bar by offering flexible PoE budgeting and supplies up to 30W power of electricity per port and has a total power supply of 400W,” said Sanjay Joshi, Country Manager at Edimax Technology. “Users need not waste money on electrical wiring or new power outlets. Using this switch, they are free to power up any IEEE 802.3at or 802.3af compliant power devices. It can be used with different PoE products such as access points, network cameras or VoIP devices and offers an effective solution for network environments where power outlets are difficult to access or make entire installation managed centrally thru PoE switch.”

24 PoE ports supplies up to 30W of electricity per port and has a total power supply of 400W to power any IEEE 802.3at/af compliant power device. The PoE detection capability enables GS-5424PLG to verify whether the connected device is IEEE 802.3at compliant or 802.3af compliant and in absence of PoE device, network data will be transmitted through the LAN cables. PoE technology enables the Ethernet cable to carry both data and power, thus reducing cable installation and eliminating the need for extension cords or electrical outlets on the walls and ceiling. Further, it also features an innovative power-budget UI which allows IT managers to monitor entire PoE network, set up VLANs to segregate traffic, configure link aggregation settings to create fat traffic pipelines and assess the total power usage before adding new PoE devices to the network architecture.
