Nominations open for One Globe Forum Awards 2017

The One Globe Forum, India’s leading platform that brings together global thought leaders to discuss how we can build a 21st century knowledge economy in India and South Asia, has announced that nominations for One Globe Awards 2017 (http://www.awards.oneglobeforum.com/) are now open. Entering its sixth edition, the Forum will take place on February 10 & 11, 2017 in New Delhi. The last date for submission of applications is January 22, 2017.

For the second year in a row, The One Globe Awards will honour individuals as well as domestic and international companies for their contributions in building a 21st century knowledge economy through their initiatives in digital economy, R&D, smart cities, entrepreneurship and social impact.

The nominations will be judged on the basis of the activities undertaken in India in the last two years (1 October 2014-30 September 2016), which can also be a part of a longer-term strategy.

The five categories for the One Globe Awards 2017 are:

  • One Globe Award for Excellence in Enabling a Digital Economy

For an app, website, multimedia channel or any other digital ecosystem that is helping build a knowledge economy. While it can have an offline component, the predominant focus should be on leveraging digital technologies to create impact.

  • One Globe Award for Excellence in Research and Development

For R&D initiatives that can help transform India into a global manufacturing hub.

  • One Globe Award for Smart Cities to build a 21st Century Knowledge Economy

For initiatives that have made Indian cities smarter by improving efficiency, quality of life, introducing citizen centric solutions etc.

  • One Globe Award for Entrepreneurship to build a 21st Century Knowledge Economy

For entrepreneurial ventures that have contributed towards building a 21st century knowledge economy.

  • One Globe Award for Social Impact to build a 21st Century Knowledge Economy

For social initiative by a social enterprise or organization in fields such as healthcare, skill development or any other which has contributed towards building a 21st century knowledge economy.

Harjiv Singh, Founder & CEO, Salwan Media Ventures, says, “If India truly has to become a 21st century knowledge economy, then it needs to holistically promote and recognize the progress being made in the fields of education, skills, entrepreneurship, technology, infrastructure, manufacturing and innovation. The One Globe Awards provide a global platform to encourage such individuals and domestic & international companies that have been working towards building a 21st century knowledge economy through any of these elements.”

The 2016 One Globe Awards were given away by Minister of State for Urban Development, Shri Babul Supriyo. Winners included Jaipur Development Authority for Excellence in Building Smart Cities; Madhya Pradesh for Excellence in Enabling a Smart State; KPIT Technologies Ltd. for Excellence in Research & Development; Mr. Ashok Trivedi, Managing Partner, SWAT Capital for Excellence in Entrepreneurship; Lord Raj Loomba, Founder, The Loomba Foundation for Excellence in Creating Social Impact; and, Uber India received the Award for Excellence in Enabling a 21st Century Digital Economy. NITI Aayog CEO Sh. Amitabh Kant was conferred a special Award for Leadership in Transforming Governance for the 21st century.

The One Globe Forum explores the intersection of technology, innovation, smart cities, skills, regional collaboration and education. The focus is on ideas, issues and impact of the Indian government’s ambitious agenda to transform India into a 21st century knowledge economy through its initiatives like “Digital India”, “Make in India”, “Smart Cities” and “Entrepreneurship”.
