MediaTek’s Strengthens India Presence, Opens New Office in Bangalore
MediaTek, one of world’s largest fabless semiconductor companies, today announced the opening up of its new facility in, Bengaluru, the Silicon Valley of India. The new sprawling facility located at RMZ Eco World in Marathalli will provide R&D, sales and marketing support to MediaTek India.
The new facility adds to MediaTek’s presence in Bengaluru – since 2014 the company has had a facility in Bellandur – and is a step to fulfill MediaTek’s overall commitment to strengthen its presence in India and the Asia-Pacific region. MediaTek recently also opened an office in Mumbai, the financial capital of India.
MediaTek aspire to grow its base in India and, its new regional center in Bengaluru along with the facility we recently opened at Mumbai will add-on to their ability to cater to the ever-growing demands of the market, with opportunities for engineers, software and customer care professionals. The office will support growing MediaTek India’s business in emerging smartphone technology and other key technology sectors such as 5G, imaging and automotive. It will also enhance the fabless semiconductor company’s role in Smart City, Startup India and Digital India projects.
While congratulating MediaTek on the new office, State Minister Priyank Kharge said: “MediaTek’s initiative bears testimony to global technology leader’s confidence in Karnataka and India as a home for R&D and innovation. I must say that, these initiatives serves as a model for future collaborations building on our strong research capabilities in the national landscape. With this commitment from MediaTek, I believe its focus on having Karnataka as an R&D hub will be even stronger and more extensive over time.”

MediaTek’s chipsets and technology power more than 1.5 billion consumer products annually – the range includes cell phones, TVs, set-top boxes, DVD players, routers, tablets, fitness bands, smart watches and gaming stations.
Among recent initiatives, the company has undertaken design and development work for automotive solutions. Its long-term vision encompasses critical areas of safety and autonomous driving, for which it is looking at Vision-based Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Precision Millimetre Wave (mmWave) Radar, among other innovations. MediaTek has recently announced its support for Google Assistant and Android Things, through which MediaTek will be able to deliver an exceptional smart-home user experience with seamless interaction between voice command devices and IoT products.
