Brand

Route Mobile Limited, one of the world’s leading messaging and voice API companies, today announced it has acquired one of its long-term strategic partners, Defero Mobile. Over the following months Defero Mobile, headquartered in Singapore and a leading provider of seamless mobile communications for enterprises, internet brands and mobile operators within the region, will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Route Mobile.

As a result of the acquisition, Derek Tan, Managing Director at Defero Mobile, has been named as Route Mobile’s new CEO Asia Pacific (APAC).

Accelerating international growth

The acquisition and Derek’s appointment follow the recent Route Mobile announcement around a new international company structure, aimed at driving growth, profitability and a better global strategic alignment.

In a bid to boost presence in the Asia-Pacific region, it is expected the acquisition will fortify Route Mobile’s global leadership position within the region, immediately accelerating growth and driving profitability. Defero Mobile will continue to operate under its own structure with Derek at its helm, until its permanent integration in the international Route Mobile organisation has been completed.

We are convinced, the merging of our two companies is the right next step in our growth trajectory for the region. It is a testament to the passion and dedication with which Derek has successfully led Defero Mobile and by which the Defero team has continuously and relentlessly delivered on their customer promise,” said Rajdip Gupta, Group CEO Route Mobile Limited. “We are looking forward to welcoming the Defero team to Route Mobile – their expertise and experience will be invaluable in our company’s evolution in Asia-Pacific.”

Addressing dynamic challenges in the mobile sector

A pioneer in monetization of A2P SMS solutions, Derek brings over a decade of industry experience, having held senior positions for Golden Bytes (Dutch aggregator), MACH / End2End (later acquired by Syniverse) and Syniverse. Under his successful leadership global teams have reliably achieved customer satisfaction and operational excellence while delivering stable and robust solutions.

We are pleased to have found such an experienced, driven, and highly motivated candidate for this crucial role within our leadership team,” said Rajdip Gupta, Group CEO Route Mobile Limited. “Derek is passionate and has a track record as a strong leader within the industry. This combined with his expertise within messaging make Derek more than qualified to lead Route Mobile’s expansion in the Asia-Pacific region.

I am honoured and excited to join Route Mobile as the new CEO APAC. My ambition is to focus on consolidating our organisational structures and strengthen our pipeline to address Route Mobile’s needs as it enters its next phase in its global expansion,” said Derek Tan, CEO APAC Route Mobile and Managing Director Defero Mobile. “I am proud of what we have accomplished as Defero Mobile – as a longstanding partner of Route Mobile joining forces is an exciting and strategically important step to create momentum in the region.”

Effective immediately, Derek will be heading up APAC operations, addressing the dynamic challenges and increasing demand in the mobile segment across the region.
