The rise and development of smart cities is a global phenomenon and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plans to roll out 109 smart cities and upgrade existing cities under the Smart Cities Mission, which will enable India to emerge as a global leader. It is estimated that investments of US$2 trillion are required over 20 years to build Smart Cities in the country. Presently, 16 public private partnership Smart City projects worth Rs 1327.67 crore are being implemented and 36 PPP projects worth Rs 3925.71 crore are at various stages of tendering.

Building on the success of the previous two international Smart Cities expos, the Exhibitions India Group plays host to One Mega Event: Smarter Solutions for a Better Tomorrow. The event will take place at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi during May 10-12, 2017.

One Mega Event combines five major exhibitions, namely Buildings India 2017 expo, Solar India 2017 expo, Transport India 2017 expo, Smart Cities India 2017 expo, and Water India 2017 expo, all under one roof.

Every aspect of urban life will be covered at the event, including smart governance, uninterrupted clean power and water supplies, smart environment, efficient solid waste management, smart ICT, improved low emission public transport, electric and hybrid vehicles for private use, smart buildings, and so on.

“One Mega Event takes forward the Government of India’s vision of strengthening cities through comprehensive and interconnected approach combined with increased public participation. With emphasis on those who actively plan and implement smart projects, the event’s central goal is to establish connections between major players from the worlds of commerce, politics, research and development, making the event an unmissable occasion for the industry and decision makers alike,” said Prem Behl, Chairman, Exhibitions India Group.

The three-day premium business event will attract world-wide attendance and participation of over 400 exhibitors from around 40 countries across 20,000 square-metres of exposition space.

One Mega Event will feature action-packed conference sessions, panel discussions, plenary sessions, and provide opportunities for one-to-one meetings, group discussions and networking activities.

Delegates will have access to over 50 conference sessions in a single venue, enabling them to collaborate and share best practices across a wide range of smart technology areas.

This trade show will bring together global industry leaders, exhibitors, industry associations, speakers, government administrators, municipal bodies, urban planning experts, investors, pioneers, technology innovators, architects, academia and the media to envision the cities of tomorrow. Government and business delegations are expected from the European Union, France, Norway, Singapore, South Africa, Ontario, and so on.

“India is at the cusp of a digital transformation and it is our collective responsibility to make sure that this metamorphosis is a successful one. We believe that the One Mega Event will provide a platform for the entire stakeholder ecosystem to come together and deliberate upon the future of Smart cities and the Digital India mandate. This event gives a great opportunity for public and private players to come together to not just showcase their offerings, but also to explore opportunities to collaborate. Given our global experience with governments and our technology prowess, Oracle is excited to be a part of this event and is committed towards making the Smart Cities as well as the Digital dream a reality,” said Shailender Kumar, Managing Director, Oracle India.

As knowledge partner for 4th Water India 2017 Expo, WaterAid India called upon industry leaders to come forward and offer their expertise and investments to deal with the complete chain of water management. “To become globally competitive, corporates need to also regulate their consumption of fresh water and follow prescribed standards before discharging waste, thus making businesses more sustainable and profitable in the long run”, said Avinash Kumar, Director-Programmes & Policy, WaterAid India.
