ITA associates as a “Partner Country” at India Design ID 2017

The Italian Trade Commission in New Delhi, as a part of a two-year campaign to promote the best of Made in Italy in India, announces the participation of Italy as a “Partner Country” at India Design ID 2017. The design week is scheduled to be held from 16 – 19th February 2017 at NSIC Grounds, Okhla, New Delhi.

In its role as a Partner Country, exhibits from Italy’s Triennale Design Museum will be brought to India for the first time and under-35 Italian designers will showcase more than 100 works at the exhibition.

“Under 35. Italian Design” exhibits will range from self-produced prototypes to large series products and from works of art to industrial artefacts. The exhibition will showcase rich and multifaceted work beginning from furniture designs and will touch upon new forms of expression; from food to web design, from fashion to textile design, from jewel design to graphic and multimedia and all the way to interior design, which is curated by Silvana Annicchiarico, Triennale Design Museum director.

Many of the participating designers are well established international artists who are employed by leading organizations in the industry. Some of the names include: Acquacalda, Mario Alessiani, Chiara Andreatti, Federico Angi, Davide G. Aquini, Giovanni Botticelli, Federica Bubani, Tommaso Caldera, Maria Jennifer Carew, Valentina Carretta and Ivo Caruso amongst others.

“We are glad to present Triennale Design Museum’s Under-35 exhibition at India Design ID 2017 which truly represents the Italian craftsmanship and its contribution in the ever-changing society through Design” said Italy’s Ambassador to India H.E Lorenzo Angeloni.

Speaking on the partnership, the Italian Trade Commissioner of the Embassy of Italy, Dr. Francesco Pensabene said, “We are thrilled to be partnering with India Design ID 2017 and to showcase the vast variety of work by talented Italian designers in India. Triennale Design Museum’s work has been appreciated around the world one that speaks a lot about Italy’s art forms and how they beautifully interpret the meaning of design and art. The designs being showcased describe the transition of Italian design and its links with economic, political, and technological changes that have occurred over the Century. We look forward to a great response this year.”

At the exhibition, for ID Symposium on February 17, Ms. Raffaella Mangiarotti, Architect and Designer specialising in the art direction, furniture and accessories is scheduled to deliver a talk on Italian craftsmanship.

With this event The Italian Trade Commission of the Italian Embassy in New Delhi aims at creating awareness about Italian Design & Craftsmanship and Triennale’s Under-35 exhibition in India and aspires to explore new business avenues for Italian companies willing to enter the local market.
